When the computer or software doesn't work

What to do in case of problems with your computer

Before calling the tech support team:

 Check to see if it’s plugged in
 Check to make sure it has power
 Check to see if it’s turned on
 Make sure you logged in correctly
 Reboot—close it and restart it
 Undo any changes made since it worked last time
 Check for viruses
 Make sure the volume’s not muted-if you’re having a sound problem
 Use the help link in an application

When you call, be able to answer these questions:

 Are any other applications affected?
 Are any other computers in the area affected?
 Are any other users affected?

Help your team help you;

 Note or write down specific symptoms
 Write down or copy down any error messages
 Make time to help troubleshoot the problem
 Keep a notebook of notes and tip sheets
 Attend training
 Support your tech support team
