What to do in case of problems with your computer
Before calling the tech support team:
Check to see if it’s plugged in
Check to make sure it has power
Check to see if it’s turned on
Make sure you logged in correctly
Reboot—close it and restart it
Undo any changes made since it worked last time
Check for viruses
Make sure the volume’s not muted-if you’re having a sound
problem
Use the help link in an application
When you call, be able to answer these questions:
Are any other applications affected?
Are any other computers in the area affected?
Are any other users affected?
Help your team help you;
Note or write down specific symptoms
Write down or copy down any error messages
Make time to help troubleshoot the problem
Keep a notebook of notes and tip sheets
Attend training
Support your tech support team
