Recycling at Dearborn 

Do Not Leave Recycling Materials if the Recycling Center is Not Open!

North Platte Honor Society students are in charge of recycling efforts at the school and for the community.  Throughout the year students give of their time, along with sponsor Allen Constant, to provide this service to the community.

The schedule is below the chart stating what items can be recycled at Dearborn.


Material Group Accepted How to recycle Not accepted
Glass Only food and beverage jars and bottles. Brown, green or clear glass. Rinse. Remove lid. Label may stay on. Please do not break. Window glass, Pyrex glass, light bulbs, dishes, ceramics, mirrors or blue glass.
Plastic Milk, water and juice jugs, any color soda bottles, soap and detergent bottles. All #1 and #2 in the triangle on the bottom are OK. Rinse. Remove lids. Labels may stay on. Flatten to save space. Styrofoam cups, lids, fast food containers, flowerpots, motor oil containers or plastic bags.
Aluminum and metal cans. Aluminum cans, steel cans, clean foil and pie or food trays Rinse. Flatten to save space Dirty foil or food trays.
Cardboard Corrugated only. Remove staples from shipping cartons. Wet cardboard and pasteboard
Newspapers, magazines, catalogs and other types of paper All clean, dry newsprint, including inserts. Magazines, catalogs and junk mail Place in bags. No need to remove staples from magazines or catalogs Construction paper, phonebooks or wet dirty or sun bleached paper.
