Parents/Guardians,
This letter is to inform you of a change in the Marching Band participation for next fall. This is a bitter-sweet letter. Sweet in the fact that preliminary enrollment for the Junior High and High School Bands it coming in at over 100 students! That is amazing. The bitter part comes in the fact that we are limited in uniforms and facility space to rehearse, practice, supervision. With that being said, the 7th grade band students will not be marching next fall. We will use the 7th grade year as a time to teach the students the basic fundamentals of marching and maneuvering. They will practice with the 8th grade students during their normal 4th period band class to gain these fundamentals. Besides learning the marching techniques, they will also learn the current music the marching band is preparing so that they can get a feel for the “next level” of music performance. We apologize for the change, but there is just no other option at this time.
This is a great problem to have. The students are thoroughly enjoying our band program and we are growing each year. We value your support and passion you have for our band program and your child in the program. We are really looking forward to the future with these students to continue the tradition of excellence that this program!
Sincerely,
Mr. Brockman Mr. Matt
Director of Bands Junior High Principal
