The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) recently released the annual performance report scores (APR) for school districts and charter schools in the state of Missouri. These scores are produced by the following metrics:
*Student achievement on state assessments,
*Attendance rates,
*Graduation rates,
*Number of students successfully completing dual credit courses,
*Number of students earning various vocational type certificates,
*Percent of students who go on to post-secondary education or the workplace within six months of graduation,
*Quality of Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP),
*Timeliness of data submissions by school administration
*Multiple other miscellaneous categories.
DESE has not released APR scores for several years due to both pandemic complications and because they have switched to a new scoring system. It is important to note that the new scoring system is not comparable to the old system terms of looking at the percentage points received by each district. Scores across the state under this new MSIP 6 system are down significantly due to a change in philosophy at the state level in how many schools should receive high level scores.
The APR score that has just been released shows North Platte R-I receiving 86.5% of the total possible points in the above-mentioned categories. This places the district among the top 15% of districts in the entire state in terms of points earned and was the second highest in the KCI Conference out of 8 schools. We are proud of our students and staff for this accomplishment as it shows that we continue to provide a high-quality educational program for our students and they continue to perform at a high level by multiple educational measurements. Though this score was at an exemplary level, the district believes there many areas that we can and expect to improve upon to ensure our students achieve at an even higher level in the years to come.
